Welcome to Laurier Psychology. Daphne means ‘laurel,’ which symbolizes recognition and victory.

As psychologist, my goal is to guide people with compassion, help them gain important insights, and learn the skills to rediscover their resilience. I would be delighted to meet you in one of the comfortable conversation rooms at Coachhuis in the centre of Amsterdam.

Currently, there is little to no waiting time.

About me

My name is Daphne Swart (41). With a background in both neuropsychology and clinical psychology, I have knowledge about brain functioning and brain disorders, as well as the treatment of psychological issues. I’m often reminded of the value of this combination, both in this practice and in rehabilitation and nursing home care where I’ve worked since 2011. It is with this background and experience that I’m able to support a wide variety of individuals, from adolescents to elderly people with dementia and their caregivers.

Helping people and understanding the complexity of the human mind are the primary driving forces in my work. I believe it’s essential for individuals to feel comfortable discussing their psychological problems openly. I am eager to assist you in identifying the cause of your issues and working towards finding a solution. Often, it feels like I am guiding the way to recovery, and I notice that over time, I can take on the role of an observer as someone begins to feel better. Figuratively, I might walk ahead initially to show the way, then beside you, and eventually behind you when things improve.

Don’t hesitate to contact me for more information or to schedule an appointment.

For whom

I treat adolescents, adults, and the elderly with various types of help requests. These are examples of the issues we address:

  • Feelings of sadness and depressive symptoms.
  • Anxiety symptoms such as hyperventilation, panic, and performance anxiety.
  • Work-related problems and burnout.
  • Persistent (unexplained) physical complaints.
  • Stress, tension, and insomnia.
  • Grief and acceptance issues.
  • Challenges related to different stages of life.
  • Coping with limitations after brain injury.
  • Trauma processing.
  • Insecurity, negative self-image, and social anxiety.

Referral to specialized care:

For some more severe psychological problems, longer-lasting and specialized assistance may be necessary. This includes serious eating disorders, severe addictions, and psychosis. We do not offer crisis care. If you are unsure, feel free to call me so we can assess whether your issues can be treated in basic mental healthcare (basisGGZ).

Clients’ Experiences

Below is a selection of (translated) reviews from clients of Laurier Psychologie.. These reviews were originally posted on Zorgkaart Nederland.

Approach

After receiving an email with your phone number, we will call you for a short intake by phone and (possibly) to schedule an appointment.

The first two sessions are intake interviews. During the second intake session, we will discuss the treatment plan and the frequency of subsequent sessions.

We apply scientifically proven treatment methods, such as:

  • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
  • AFT (Affect Phobia Therapy)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Of course, we will discuss and choose the most suitable method, depending on your symptoms and what works best for you.

Rates and Reimbursements

Rates

Annually, the healthcare rates are determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). For your convenience, you can find an overview of the standard rates relevant to Laurier Psychology on the following page, along with explanations of the codes and abbreviations that appear on the invoice, in accordance with official requirements: Invoice Information and Standard Rates.

The following rates are most common in practice:

  • 45 minutes of diagnostics: € 174,83
  • 60 minutes of diagnostics: € 200,99
  • 45 minutes of treatment: € 149,82
  • 60 minutes of treatment: € 177,89
  • 90 minutes of treatment: € 267,52

Reimbursement

To be eligible for reimbursement by your health insurer, you will need a referral from your general practitioner that specifies basis GGZ (basic mental healthcare). Please provide this referral at the intake, either in paper or digital form. Laurier Psychology does not have contracts with health insurers, which means you will only receive full reimbursement if you have a reimbursement policy (restitutiepolis). After each session, you will make the payment by debit card. Then, you will receive an invoice that you can submit to your health insurer for reimbursement. They will then reimburse you the amount that corresponds to your policy.

Necessary care within basis GGZ (basic mental healthcare) and specialized GGZ (specialized mental healthcare) is (partially) covered by the basic insurance. The percentage of the NZa rate that is reimbursed depends on your health insurance and the type of policy. In most cases, between 65% to 100% of the costs are reimbursed. Please check with your health insurer to find out how reimbursement works so that you know what to expect beforehand. You can also visit contractvrijepsycholoog.nl for an overview of reimbursements by insurer. For all treatments in mental healthcare, your own risk is applied first. This standard amount is €385 per year.

Cancellation and No-show

If you cannot attend an appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. The earlier the cancellation is received, the higher the chances that someone else can take your spot. For cancellations later than 48 hours before the appointment, a no-show fee of €60 will be charged. This amount is not reimbursed by your health insurer. If you cancel via email at least 48 hours in advance, no fees will be charged.

Contact me

I’d be happy to call you if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment. Email your phone number to me so I can get back to you.
