Approach

1. A short introductory phone call

Email your phone number to daphne@laurier-psychologie.nl. I will call you for a brief telephone intake and, if appropriate, to arrange an appointment.

2. Intake and treatment plan

The first conversations are used to understand your symptoms, situation and goals. Usually the first two sessions are intake sessions. During the second intake session we discuss the treatment plan and the likely frequency of subsequent sessions. If needed, we take more time for assessment.

If you want to claim treatment through your Dutch health insurance, you need an appropriate referral, usually from your GP. Please provide this at the intake, on paper or digitally. Check your reimbursement and policy conditions beforehand.

3. A treatment approach that fits you

I use several evidence-based treatment methods. Which approach we use depends on your concerns and what suits you. We decide this together.

• ACT — Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
• EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
• CBT — Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
• AFT — Affect Phobia Therapy.
• SFT — Solution-Focused Therapy.

The sessions

I see clients in one of the consultation rooms at Coachhuis, Binnenkant 24 in Amsterdam. A session generally lasts 60 minutes. More time may sometimes be scheduled for EMDR, for example 90 minutes.
